RBC’s Threat Hunting Team is responsible for the proactive identification and detection of sophisticated threat actors and insider threats that might pose a risk to the organization and employees. We are a team of experienced and enthusiastic security experts, researchers, and innovators that are passionate about solving complex cyber security problems, developing novel solutions, and building prototypes in areas where security vendors are one step behind. We engineer tailor-made detections that will reduce risk to our organization, employees, and clients.

We’re looking for a 12-month Cyber Threat Hunter Intern who is constantly thinking outside the box, ready to dive deep into the smallest details, is passionate about cybersecurity and has a natural detective sense. The right candidate has experience in both offensive and defensive operations and enjoys innovation and security research.

What will you do?

  • You will be involved in the process of detection engineering to address complex cyber threats in the environment using multiple data sources.
  • Develop anomaly detections capabilities based on top cyber security risks.
  • Research and develop alerting mechanisms addressing some of the most recent threats created by APT groups threat actors, and malware developers.
  • You will be collaborating with Data Scientists on development of User Behavioral Analytics models and serve as a cyber security SME.
  • Work closely with multiple teams including Adversary Emulation (Red Team), Data Science, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Security Operation Center (SOC) and Digital Forensics and Incident Response (IR).
  • Work with Frontier AI models, Python to develop detection capabilities, malware analysis and reverse engineering.
  • Analyze malicious malware samples and create detections based on the MITRE ATT&CK framework and TTPs.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Python, SQL, JS.
  • Knowledge of the Kill Chain phases and MITRE ATT&CK framework TTPs.
  • Knowledge of data lake solution and query such as Splunk/Elasticsearch.
  • Knowledge of cyber security controls/products including both endpoint and infrastructure.

Nice-to-have

  • Understanding of computing architecture, OS Internals and CPU architectures.
  • Hands-on experience in both malware analysis and reverse engineering domains.
  • Experience working for a cyber security team or security vendor.
  • Programming languages such as C++/C#/Javascript/Assembly.
  • Digital Forensics skills including memory/network/OS/disk forensics.
