About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Data and Automation Specialist to provide critical analytical insights and process efficiency during our high-growth phase. In this crucial role, you'll oversee data visibility and internal automation development. You'll have the opportunity to build and optimize BI dashboards and AI-assisted workflows, working with cross-functional stakeholders across the company to eliminate manual work and drive data-backed decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Query Optimization: Write and optimize complex SQL queries utilizing joins, aggregations, and window functions to extract clean datasets.

  • BI Management: Build, deploy, and maintain intuitive BI dashboards to give teams clear visibility into key business metrics.

  • Data Quality Assurance: Continuously monitor data quality, flag inconsistencies, and ensure a single source of truth across all reporting.

  • AI Prototyping: Use advanced AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or no-code AI builders) to prototype and ship scripts, tools, and workflows.

  • Process Automation: Identify repetitive manual tasks across the organization that can be streamlined or eliminated through automation.

  • Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate vague business questions into structured analysis and actionable recommendations.

  • Technical Validation: Maintain clear documentation for data pipelines and automated tools so they can be easily scaled by the team.

Requirements:

  • Solid SQL Foundation: Proven mastery of SQL, including deep comfort with complex joins, aggregations, window functions, and query optimization.

  • Dashboarding Expertise: Hands-on, practical experience building business-facing reports in at least one major BI tool (e.g., Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar).

  • Provable AI Projects: Demonstrated, provable experience building and shipping an actual AI-assisted script, automation, or internal tool.

  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to audit data structures, spot funnel anomalies, and maintain high-integrity reporting that stakeholders can trust without double-checking.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote environment

  • Availability to work during US business hours

Tools & Technology:

  • Data & Analytics: SQL, Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker

  • AI & Automation: Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, No-Code AI builders, Scripting languages

  • Collaboration: Slack, Google Workspace, Notion, Ninety, and Microsoft 365

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in loss prevention or retail technology industries

  • Familiarity with setting and monitoring engineering/operational SLAs and funnel metrics

  • Experience writing lightweight Python or JavaScript scripts to connect APIs and automate workflows
