Data Engineer / Cloud ETL Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Engineer / Cloud ETL Developer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to design and deliver scalable, cloud-based data engineering and ETL solutions that directly support mission-critical programs in a high-impact environment. The position focuses on transforming complex data—particularly within healthcare domains—into structured, reliable, and actionable insights for large-scale operational use. Working within an agile, cloud-first engineering team, the Data Engineer will build and optimize data pipelines, improve system performance, and support continuous delivery practices. The role requires strong technical depth in Python, SQL, and cloud data platforms, with a focus on automation, reliability, and scalability. It also involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance data accessibility and enable smarter decision-making. This is a hands-on engineering role with meaningful impact on data modernization initiatives and public-sector outcomes.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement complex cloud-based ETL pipelines to process and transform large-scale datasets, including healthcare data, into usable business insights.
  • Build and maintain scalable data engineering solutions using Python, SQL, and cloud data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake.
  • Support ETL operational processes including job scheduling, automation, monitoring, dependency management, and system maintenance.
  • Optimize data pipelines for performance, reliability, security, and scalability across cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver iterative improvements and data-driven solutions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data workflows, system efficiency, and operational stability.
  • Manage source control and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub and DevOps practices.
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance across all ETL and cloud data processing activities.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
    • 5+ years of experience in IT or data engineering roles.
    • Strong proficiency in Python programming and advanced SQL.
    • At least 2+ years of hands-on experience in cloud ETL development using AWS services or equivalent cloud platforms.
    • Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data warehouse technologies.
    • Familiarity with GitHub or other version control systems.
    • Experience working in Agile development environments with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain required background clearance and meet residency requirements.
