Your Impact

As a Data Engineer at Entain, you’ll play a key role in shaping and scaling the data platform that underpins decision-making across the business. From customer behaviour to operational performance, your work ensures data is accurate, accessible, and trusted.

You’ll take ownership of our Snowflake data warehouse and the pipelines that feed it, continuously improving performance, scalability, and reliability. By delivering high-quality data solutions at pace, you’ll directly enable teams across analytics, marketing, trading, and finance to make better, faster decisions.

This role will continue to evolve alongside the adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices across the Data team.

A Day in the Life

You’ll operate across both delivery and continuous improvement:

  • Manage, maintain, and optimise Snowflake environments to meet performance, cost, and SLA expectations
  • Design, build, and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from a wide range of sources
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into scalable, reliable data solutions
  • Develop and refine data models to support reporting, analytics, and downstream use cases
  • Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot issues, and proactively improve data quality and timeliness
  • Contribute to testing frameworks, code reviews, and engineering standards to uplift overall platform quality
  • Document data flows, architecture, and processes to support maintainability and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and engineers to deliver end-to-end data products
  • Leverage modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and observability, to improve delivery efficiency and data reliability

Your Strengths

  • Strong experience in data warehousing principles and dimensional modelling (Kimball)
  • Hands-on expertise with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data platforms
  • Advanced SQL skills, with experience building performant and maintainable transformations
  • Proven experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines using tools like Matillion or similar
  • Understanding of modern data architectures, including batch and streaming (e.g. Kafka)
  • Experience working with both structured and semi-structured data (JSON, XML)
  • Familiarity with version control tools (GitHub/GitLab) and collaborative engineering practices
  • Exposure to BI ecosystems (e.g. SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS or similar)
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Cortex Code or similar) to enhance productivity and code quality
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a focus on performance, scalability, and data quality
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
