Data Migration Test Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Migration Test Analyst based in India.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the success of large-scale data migration initiatives, focusing on validating ETL workflow transitions from legacy systems to modern cloud-based data integration platforms. You will work at the intersection of data engineering and quality assurance, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability across complex data pipelines. The role involves deep analysis of transformation logic, reconciliation of datasets, and validation of end-to-end data flows. You will collaborate closely with ETL developers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless migration outcomes. This is a detail-oriented, hands-on position where SQL expertise and analytical rigor are essential. The environment is fast-paced and delivery-focused, with a strong emphasis on precision and data integrity. You will contribute directly to the modernization of enterprise data infrastructure.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for ETL/data migration from Pentaho Data Integration to Informatica Cloud Data Integration (CDI).
  • Validate end-to-end data pipelines, including source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, aggregations, business rules, and data integrity checks.
  • Perform advanced SQL-based validation and reconciliation of datasets between legacy Pentaho workflows and Informatica CDI outputs.
  • Identify, analyze, and document data discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and work with engineering teams to ensure resolution.
  • Test ETL workflows, including mappings, task flows, scheduling, dependencies, error handling, and restartability mechanisms.
  • Ensure performance, scalability, and functional equivalence of migrated pipelines compared to legacy systems.
  • Log, track, and retest defects using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps, ensuring clear communication of issues and resolutions.
  • Create and maintain detailed testing documentation, including test cases, execution reports, validation results, and sign-off artifacts.
  • Requirements:

    • Strong hands-on experience in ETL/ELT testing and data warehouse validation projects.
    • Practical experience with Pentaho Data Integration (PDI) and/or Informatica Cloud Data Integration (CDI).
    • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, window functions, and aggregations.
    • Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar platforms.
    • Strong understanding of data integration concepts including source-to-target mapping, transformations, lookups, and slowly changing dimensions (SCDs).
    • Experience in data reconciliation, validation frameworks, and ensuring data accuracy across systems.
    • Familiarity with defect tracking tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
    • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to work independently in fast-paced delivery environments.
    • Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.
