What You'll Responsible For:
Main Responsibilities
Plan Management: Develop, maintain, and update emission monitoring plans in line with IMO, EU, UK, and other regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor global and regional emission regulatory developments and proactively assess their impact on company operations.
Data Verification: Ensure emission reporting processes are based on correct and validated data, working closely with Data Quality Executives.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate regulatory requirements and updates to internal stakeholders (management, shipboard staff, technical teams) and external stakeholders (verifiers, authorities, partners).
Report Submission: Lead the submission of verified emission compliance reports to regulatory bodies within required timelines.
Audit Support: Support regulatory audits and inspections by providing accurate and complete compliance documentation.
Training: Train and guide colleagues and suppliers on emission-related compliance matters.
Sustainability Projects: Undertake ad hoc projects relating to emission compliance and sustainability initiatives.
Operational Backup: If needed, fulfill the tasks of the Global HSEQ Data Quality Executive to ensure data quality processes are sustained.
Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the VP Global HSEQ & Systems, or by the designated reporting line if the position is assigned to another company under an intercompany agreement.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements
Education: University degree or higher vocational training in a technical or maritime discipline.
Maritime Experience: Seafaring experience, preferably at the Junior Officer level (Third/Second Officer or Fourth/Third Engineer).
Language Proficiency: Good command of oral and written English.
IT Literacy: Basic computer knowledge.
Mindset: Environmentally focused mindset.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with shipboard staff, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Stakeholder Management: Strong teamwork, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Core Soft Skills: Analytical, problem-solving, time management, decision-making, and leadership abilities.
Attributes: Flexibility, resilience, and conceptual thinking skills.
Methodology: Experience in project work and process-oriented approaches.
Domain Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of ship emission and performance data collection topics.
Technical Expertise: Technical knowledge of ship operations and onboard machinery.
Reporting Experience: Proven experience in preparing and submitting emission reports.
Regulatory Knowledge: Solid knowledge of global and regional CO₂ emission reporting and reduction regulations (IMO DCS, EU MRV, EU ETS, UK ETS, FuelEU Maritime).
Technical Systems: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, statistical reporting, and database management.
Management Concepts: Sound knowledge of QHSE management concepts.
Additional Preferences
Advanced Excel: Pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas for data validation & trend analysis.
Database Skills: SQL queries and a strong understanding of relational structures.
Programming: Scripting skills in Python for data processing, automation, and error-checking.
Data Visualization: Proficiency in tools like Power BI or Tableau.
Data Quality Frameworks: Knowledge of cleansing, validation, and reconciliation methods.
Data Governance: Cybersecurity and data governance awareness when handling sensitive regulatory data.
Please note that this is a contractual position with an initial tenure of six (6) months.
