Data Technology Consultant
We are seeking a Data Technology Consultant to help shape and operationalize a robust data product framework. In this role, you will define what constitutes a data product, establish governance structures, and design scalable workflows that empower teams to ingest, publish, and manage data assets with confidence. You will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of accountability, stewardship, and continuous improvement across the data platform. Responsibilities Develop a practical and actionable definition of a "data product" tailored to the organization's needs and context Design and implement a transparent ownership model, assigning clear responsibilities and accountability for each data product Set minimum documentation requirements and quality benchmarks that must be met for every data product, ensuring consistency and reliability across the platform Collaborate with stakeholders to refine definitions and expectations, integrating feedback to optimize the model Document step-by-step procedures for ingesting data, creating new data products, and publishing them securely within the platform Design simple, repeatable workflows that can be easily followed by users across different teams, reducing friction and promoting best practices Provide guidance on safe and compliant data handling, emphasizing ease of use while maintaining data integrity Facilitate training sessions or workshops to onboard users to these processes Establish a centralized documentation strategy and enforce standards for data product descriptions, ownership attribution, and business context, creating a single source of truth for platform procedures and governance details Implement discoverability mechanisms (e.g., searchable catalogs, metadata tagging) and develop minimal validation requirements to help users find relevant data products while ensuring essential quality and compliance checks Establish baseline access control principles and define pragmatic, scalable approaches to data quality management and stewardship, safeguarding data while enabling broad, responsible usage Design a lightweight governance cadence, such as regular check-ins or reviews, integrating governance activities with platform usage metrics and developing mechanisms for feedback and iteration as the platform matures Requirements 8+ years of experience in a data-focused consulting or operations role Background in data governance, data management, or data product operations, with proven experience in implementing effective operating models and processes Capability to define and operationalize frameworks and workflows in dynamic environments Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Purview concepts, including data cataloging, lineage, and governance capabilities Exceptional documentation and communication skills, capable of translating complex concepts into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, adapting approaches as needed to meet organizational objectives English language proficiency at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher Nice to have Expertise in core DataOps Proficiency in data management Skills in documentation and specifications Competency in stakeholder management
