Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Cassandra database platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, performance, security, and scalability of databases supporting mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
Database Administration:
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MariaDB, PostgreSQL, and Apache Cassandra databases
Perform database capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization
Monitor database health, replication, clustering, and availability
Backup, Recovery & High Availability:
Design and manage backup and recovery strategies (logical & physical backups)
Implement and manage replication, clustering, and failover solutions
Perform disaster recovery planning and regular DR drills
Security & Compliance:
Manage database security: users, roles, privileges, encryption, and auditing
Apply security patches and upgrades in compliance with company policies
Ensure compliance with data protection and regulatory standards
Performance & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve database performance issues and outages
Analyze slow queries, locks, and resource bottlenecks
Provide root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents
Automation:
Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (Shell, Python, etc.)
Support containerized and cloud-based database deployments (if applicable)
Documentation & Support:
Maintain database documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks
Provide on-call support for production database environments
Assist developers with schema design, indexing, and query optimization
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Strong hands-on experience with MariaDB / MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Apache Cassandra
Expertise in:
Replication & clustering (Galera, PostgreSQL streaming replication, Cassandra clusters)
Backup & recovery tools (mysqldump, pg_dump, pg_basebackup, nodetool, etc.)
Performance tuning and query optimization
Experience with Linux systems and shell scripting
Knowledge of monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios, etc.)
Database Concepts:
ACID vs BASE principles
OLTP and distributed database architectures
Data modeling for relational and NoSQL databases
