Purpose
The DC Purchasing Agent is responsible for the strategic and operational execution of procurement and inventory replenishment across Distribution Centers (DCs) and the broader network. This role combines tactical purchasing execution with supplier management, inventory optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure product availability, service level achievement, and cost efficiency.
The position balances cost, quality, service levels, and supply chain risks while supporting organizational goals for inventory performance (e.g., in-stock rates and days on hand) and overall supply chain efficiency.
This role serves as a hybrid of strategic sourcing and execution-focused DC replenishment, ensuring that the organization maintains strong supplier partnerships, efficient procurement processes, and optimal inventory performance across the network.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Execution & Purchase Order Management

• Execute purchase orders from placement through delivery, ensuring timely and accurate receipt into DCs and across the network
• Manage procurement transactions to maximize service levels while minimizing logistics, operational, and inventory holding costs
• Evaluate purchase requests and source products based on cost, quality, and delivery requirements
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supply terms for spot buys and ongoing replenishment
Supplier Relationship & Coordination
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and service performance
• Coordinate with vendors to confirm order details, track shipments, and resolve supply issues
• Expedite deliveries, manage order changes, and coordinate rerouting of shipments when necessary
Inventory Management & Replenishment
• Support DC and network replenishment strategies to maintain target service levels and optimize inventory investment
• Monitor inventory levels, demand trends, and stock availability across locations
• Assist in managing excess and obsolete inventory, including reverse logistics back to DCs
• Identify and communicate inventory risks and adjustment needs to leadership
AP Support & Operational Follow-Through
• Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely vendor payments
• Track inbound shipments (purchases and transfers) and follow-through to ensure on-time delivery and service level protection
Issue Resolution & Stakeholder Communication
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve procurement and supply chain issues in collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders (DCs, branches, operations) and external partners (suppliers)
• Escalate risks or supply disruptions with recommended mitigation plans when needed
Data Integrity, Compliance & Systems
• Maintain accurate procurement records to ensure audit readiness and process transparency
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and industry standards
• Utilize ERP systems to manage purchasing, inventory, and reporting activities
Continuous Improvement & Projects
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve procurement processes, automation, and efficiency
• Support network initiatives such as branch openings, relocations, closures, and system setting updates

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain
Preferred Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in purchasing and inventory management
• Experience with ERP systems and supply chain tools
• Experience supporting multi-location or distribution network operations
