The School of Engineering and & Computing at the American International University in Kuwait comprises the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The School offers Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.
Scope of Work
The Dean of the School of Engineering & Computing provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership to advance AIU’s engineering programs. The Dean oversees academic quality, faculty development, accreditation, research and innovation, and operational effectiveness, fostering excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and management for the School of Engineering and Computing, including faculty, academic programs, and operations.
- Oversee all engineering and computing programs, ensuring academic excellence and market relevance.
- Lead curriculum development, scheduling, program assessment, and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic planning.
- Oversee faculty recruitment, development, and performance management.
- Promote research and scholarly activity across the School.
- Maintain and engage the Industry Advisory Committee to align programs with industry needs.
- Lead accreditation and quality assurance processes, including ABET and related frameworks.
- Ensure accurate external communications, including the School’s website and public information.
- Strengthen industry partnerships, internships, and experiential learning opportunities.
- Support laboratory infrastructure and academic resources development.
- Represent the School in university leadership and institutional strategic initiatives.
- Promote student success, retention, progression, and employability through data-informed leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate shall demonstrate experience in professional and academic positions, a strong record in teaching, and outstanding international academic achievements. The candidate is expected to demonstrate ongoing contributions through published research in recognized international journals, as well as participation in exhibitions, conferences, and symposiums, in addition to the following qualifications and experience:
- Ph.D. or equivalent from a recognized university.
- Professor rank in one of the School’s disciplines.
- Strong record of excellence in teaching and research appropriate to the rank of professor.
- Leadership qualities and proven research background.
- Clear vision for higher education and School development.
- Familiarity with credit hour and semester systems.
- Senior managerial experience in higher education, preferably at dean level.
- Experience with program accreditation standards.
- Knowledge of HR, administrative, and financial policies and procedures.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with academic and industry institutions.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic is a plus.
- Experience in American or internationally accredited higher education systems is preferred.
