Dental Assistant
DENTAL ASSISTANT
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sets up instrument tray according to procedures to be performed.
- Escorts patients from reception area to treatment room and seats patient
- Takes patient’ vital signs as required.
- Reviews health history, charts notes, and enters information into electronic dental record.
- Performs oral post treatment and provides patient instructions.
- Takes diagnostic x-ray images (certification required).
- Assists the dentist at chair by performing activities including, but not limited to, passing and receiving instruments, oral evacuation and retraction and preparation of materials.
- Assists in providing prevention education to the patient.
- Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments during treatment of patients.
- Assists with prophylaxis on patients.
- Prepares lab boxes and labels for mailing.
- Maintains and sterilizes all equipment and instruments.
- May participate in community and school activities.
- Makes appointments and handles cancellations as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of six (6) months of clinical or dental experience, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity.
- Must demonstrate willingness to learn various dental instruments.
- Must be willing to attend workshops and training sessions.
- Must be able to demonstrate willingness to work with patients in a friendly and professional manner.
