The Department Specialist is an hourly, non-exempt key support role responsible for department pricing support, data management, and administrative execution within the United Division. This role requires strong technical proficiency, particularly in Excel and other reporting tools, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, high-volume, office environment. The Department Specialist works closely with department leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate information, timely execution, and consistent support of division initiatives.
Main responsibilities:

Support the execution of department and category pricing in partnership with the Assistant Sales Manager(s)

Provide administrative and operational support to the department, ensuring daily workflows are completed accurately and on time

Maintain complex records, files, and departmental documentation

Examine, prioritize, and route documents to determine the appropriate action or follow up

Respond to inquiries requiring specialized knowledge of department processes, policies, and/or data
-

Review and proof ad content to ensure accuracy of pricing and category information; flagging discrepancies for correction

Collect, compile, and analyze data from multiple sources for department reports and special projects
-

Create, update, and maintain complex reports, spreadsheets, and data comparisons
-

Prepare, balance, and validate data; ching for accuracy and completeness
-
-
Support programs, initiatives, and department events
-
-
-
Assist with tracking and execution of departmental projects from planning through completion
-

Support the implementation of approved changes to policies, procedures, and processes affecting the department
-

Serve as a liaison between the department and other functional teams including our Center Store Supervisors and store teams
-

Partner with department leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies

We are looking for candidates who possess the following:

Must be proficient in Excel and reporting tools; strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly learn new systems
-

Quick to learn and adapt to new tools, reports, and processes
-

Excellent time management skills with the ability to independently manage workload and meet deadlines within the scheduled hours

Demonstrates ability to perform accurately in a high volume, deadline driven work environment

Displays sound judgment in balancing competing priorities

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent keyboarding and data entry skills

Must be proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications

Strong attention to detail, organization, and analysis skills

Ability to follow defined guidelines while exercising sound judgment

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline driven office environment

Prior experience in retail grocery operations, merchandising, or a functional support role

Experience as a Scan/Pricing Coordinator or Bookkeeper
-

-
Experience producing, maintaining, and validating recurring and ad hoc reports in a fast-paced environment
-

Strong technology aptitude with experience supporting reporting, data analysis, operational processes and spreadsheets
-

Must possess math skills at a specific level (i.e. one step: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or two step: percent calculations)

Prior experience training or supporting other team members
-

Based in Lubbock, Texas at the Llano Distribution Center, in office five (5) days per week
-

Usually standard business hours; occasional schedule adjustments may be required based on business needs
