Deposit Operations Specialist – Bank

This role provides advanced operational support across Deposit Operations, ensuring accurate processing and timely resolution of issues while flexing to support changing volumes and priorities. The position works closely with Deposit Operations leadership to achieve team production goals and manage escalations. Acts as a key point of contact for complex client matters and collaborates with external financial institutions to gather information and bring issues to resolution. Supports team development through guidance and knowledge sharing.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide production support across Deposit Operations, including ACH, wire transfers, card and dispute activity, account maintenance, new account origination support, and fraud-related activities in partnership with the BSA/Fraud Analyst and Deposit Operations leadership, while actively monitoring workflow and stepping into additional operational areas as needed to support volumes and capacity constraints.

  • Resolve deposit servicing and new business issues, assisting other team members with advanced problem resolution and developing proposed solutions for manager review.

  • Work collaboratively with Deposit Operations leadership serve as a client contact for complex deposit operations matters, leveraging advanced operational knowledge to resolve issues, and proactively engage with other financial institutions to obtain information and drive resolution.

  • Support others in assigned operational functions by providing handson guidance and on-going knowledge sharing.

  • Partner closely with the Service Analyst to identify and implement continuous process improvements, including supporting system changes through user support and testing activities.

  • This role will interact with individual contributors within Thrivent Bank and the broader Thrivent organization and field organization, Thrivent Bank clients, and managers and/or directors within Thrivent Bank, as well as other financial institutions.

  • Interacts regularly with individual contributors across Thrivent Bank, the broader organization, and field partners, as well as Thrivent Bank clients and external financial institutions, to resolve complex operational matters.

  • Partners closely with managers and directors within Deposit Operations and Thrivent Bank, providing insights on trends, risks, and service challenges.

  • Identifies and proactively escalates process gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities to leadership.

  • Serves as a key conduit between frontline operations and management, ensuring operational feedback is translated into actionable process and system enhancements.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

Required:

  • High School diploma; Associate degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years related experience

  • Knowledge of banking regulations

  • Demonstrated mastery of deposit operations functions, including deep working knowledge across most or all operational areas (e.g., ACH, wires, card/dispute processing, account maintenance, fraud, and new account support), with the ability to serve as a subject matter expert and resource for others

Preferred:

  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer-service skills.

  • Good organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work accurately, both independently and as a part of a team, with interruptions to meet deadlines.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $21.83 - $29.53 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
