Derivative Risk Product & Analytics , Associate , Institutional Equities Division

Morgan Stanley’s Derivative Risk Product team in the Institutional Equity Division (IED) is looking to expand and build out the team’s data analytics capabilities. The candidate’s main responsibilities will be to use data and quantitative solutions to help optimize day to day operations for the global team, as well as help build analytics. This role will be based in Mumbai working with teams around the globe.

Global Capital Markets: In the Global Capital Markets division, we offer Global expertise in market analysis and in advisory and capital-raising services for corporations, institutions, and governments.

The Global Markets Group (GMG) is Morgan Stanley’s offshore arm for Sales & Trading in India. GMG supports the IED platform by partnering with onshore teams across Sales, Trading, Structuring, Quantitative/Strats, Analytics, Operations and Risk Management. The group provides scalable coverage, process excellence and technical expertise, enabling global desks to focus on client-facing priorities while maintaining strong controls, governance and risk discipline.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Support coverage of the EMEA Derivatives business through risk analysis, reporting, and control oversight
  • Develop analytics to monitor business activity, risk metrics, exposures, and exceptions
  • Partner with product, trading, and technology teams to improve workflows, controls, and management information
  • Build dashboards, reporting, and automated monitoring tools
  • Analyse datasets to identify trends, outliers, and areas requiring escalation or remediation
  • Contribute to strategic technology and infrastructure projects that strengthen the risk management framework
  • Help define business requirements, perform testing, and support implementation of new tools and processes
  • Use LLMs and related automation tools to streamline workflows and improve reporting, analysis, and documentation
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop and deploy LLM-enabled solutions with appropriate focus on accuracy, governance, and risk management
  • Produce clear materials for stakeholders across front office, risk, and support functions
  • Assist in strengthening procedures, governance standards, and control documentation

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a STEM subject.
  • 3-7 years of relevant experience in a risk, product, business analyst, data analyst, or quantitative support role within financial services. Job level will be based on relevancy of the experience.
  • Should have 2+ years of strong proven experience using Python in a professional environment.
  • Experience in a data specialist role, a passion for working with data and helping stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills; able to decompose complex problems and projects into manageable pieces; comfortable suggesting and presenting solutions.
  • Ability to complete tasks independently to a high standard with minimal oversight.
  • Understanding of equity derivatives, including structured notes, exotic products, and trade lifecycle processes
  • Experience supporting or delivering technology projects
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience querying large datasets
  • Familiarity with dashboarding or BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • Exposure to EMEA markets or cross-regional stakeholder management
  • Experience in a front-office or business-facing environment
  • Exposure to LLM or AI-enabled tooling in an enterprise or workflow automation context
