Derivatives Risk Oversight Lead

You will lead independent oversight of derivatives risk across trading products, validating models, assessing exposures, defining margin and counterparty frameworks, and conducting stress testing and scenario analysis. You will perform model validation, produce regulatory submissions, design capital and liquidity models, and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and regulators.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage financial risk management programs for derivatives, including market product counterparty margin collateral and liquidity risks
  • Independently monitor risk exposures and escalate breaches of approved limits
  • Review and validate risk models and exposure metrics for derivatives products and trading strategies
  • Define and review margin methodologies and assess adequacy of margin and collateral practices
  • Define counterparty risk framework and monitor limit utilization and concentration risk
  • Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis and develop contingency plans
  • Prepare quarterly regulatory submissions such as ICAAP and quantitative reporting
  • Build or enhance internal capital and liquidity models for derivatives risks
  • Develop risk and early warning indicators and monitor KPI KRI thresholds and escalation triggers
  • Establish regular risk assessment processes including daily monitoring and exception tracking
  • Collaborate with product operations compliance legal and technology to integrate risk considerations
  • Report findings to management and regulatory authorities with clear mitigation actions

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in financial risk management ideally in a second line of defense capacity
  • Direct derivatives and market risk experience
  • Ability to independently test recalculate and challenge front-line risk metrics and product outputs
  • Good understanding of the MiFID regulatory framework and prudential expectations
  • Knowledge of balance sheet components and capital liquidity and P&L implications of leveraged derivatives
  • Ability to operate independently and navigate ambiguity
  • Effective communication and presentation skills with senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of blockchain and virtual currency environment preferred
  • Excellent English written and verbal
