Job Description:

We are seeking an Engineer to develop tests, validate, and debug new PCI Express (PCIe) switches and Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) controllers, as well as support validation for existing devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive silicon and system validation plans to ensure compliance with functional specifications.

  • Diagnose and resolving complex hardware and software issues in post-silicon environments.

  • Build and enhance validation tools and test automation scripts.

  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, sharing technical knowledge and fostering a collaborative team environment.

  • Leading complex test execution and conducting investigations in a lab environment on-site and remotely.

  • Finding and reporting bugs. Working with cross-expertise teams and leading efforts to isolate, investigate and solve them.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience. New graduates who have appropriate experience may be considered. Applicants with significantly more experience may be considered for a senior position.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of software engineering principles

  • Proficiency in programming scripting (e.g., Python, C, or similar).

  • Deep understanding of digital systems and computer architecture.

  • Ability to develop and execute functional validation plans, including creating supporting software.

  • Experience in IC and SoC validation.

  • Experience debugging & working with prototype ICs, boards and HW infrastructure.

  • Experience working in a lab environment and knowledge of relevant test equipment and protocol analyzers

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across teams and present technical insights

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of PCIe/CXL system architecture and/or NVMe storage interfaces.

  • Knowledge of I2C/I3C/SMBus interfaces

  • Familiarity with lab equipment, such as protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers.

  • Experience in high-speed digital design and board-level development.

  • Experience testing and debugging high-speed SERDES.

  • Knowledge of FPGA design tools and VHDL/Verilog coding.

  • Experience in assembling computer systems and various operating systems including Linux & Windows.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position is $76,000-$114,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
