The Design Estimator I supports critical business objectives by providing accurate structural estimates and preorder technical support for strategic Fortune 500 corporate customers and major influencers, including EPC firms, national contractors, and global developers. This role operates in a deadline driven environment where estimates play a key role in pricing decisions, bid competitiveness, and customer confidence.

The Design Estimator I is responsible for translating project requirements into clear, reliable structural pricing and technical assumptions, often while managing multiple concurrent requests. Accuracy and consistency are essential, as estimates are frequently used by sales teams to support final pricing decisions with meaningful financial and reputational implications.

This role requires close collaboration with sales and estimating stakeholders in an environment that demands responsiveness, adaptability, and disciplined execution. While working under supervision, the Design Estimator I is expected to steadily increase technical proficiency, autonomy, and decision-making capability, laying the groundwork for handling higher complexity projects and increased accountability.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and optimal quotations and pre-order assistance for projects of low to moderate complexity (50 to 300 hours +/-) with limited oversight.
  • Support the salesforce with information needed for setting final prices.
  • Assist builders in understanding pricing software and its capabilities.
  • Actively participate in team initiatives, maintaining focus on regional objectives and profitability goals.
  • Increase or maintain department quote hit ratio.
  • Mentor entry-level estimators when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related engineering field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In lieu of degree, 3+ Years of Experience in Pre-Engineered Metal Building Estimating/Design
  • Strong technical background preferred.
  • Proficiency in estimating and pricing software.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
  • Experience in pre-engineered metal building projects
