Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI)

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

This Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI) position is in Diagnostic Imaging services at the VA Boston Healthcare System, West Roxbury, MA campus. This position is a Part-Time at 16 hours per week (Saturdays and Sundays). Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Operating the super conductive Magnetic Resonance Imager (MRI), a highly complex computerized imaging device which employs the use of strong magnetic fields and radio waves to acquire images. Incumbent operates a magnet of 1.5 or 3 TESLA Preparing magnet for daily operation, bringing they system up and checking all self calibrating parameters. Maintaining the cleanliness of the assigned work area. Maintaining necessary supplies in the work area. Reporting all shortages or equipment failure to the supervisor. Observing patient safety guidelines as set forth in department and Medical Center policies and procedures. Monitoring all equipment brought into the MRI environment to ensure it is MRI sage or MRI compatible. Actively seeking out work when assigned tasks are finished; Proactively identifies administrative, clinical or mechanical problems, and defines solutions. Advising the Radiologist of those examinations which require immediate attention while the patient is still undergoing the examination. Practicing sterile techniques to prevent contamination. Performing the associated DHCP, CPRS GUI and imaging network responsibilities that relate to a patient examination and the patient's record.
