The Dir Market Development is responsible for leading, managing and executing growth strategies. This role oversees a team of market development specialists and works closely with hospital leadership to drive referral growth, physician alignment, and revenue. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with leadership experience in health care market development, a deep understanding of hospital operations and a proven ability to drive surgical volume.

  • Leadership and Team Management
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Market Development Specialists to drive physician engagement and growth.
  • Set clear performance goals and key performance indicators (KPIs), provide ongoing coaching, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance team expertise in sales, outreach strategies, and physician relationship management.
  • Align business development efforts with the hospital’s overall strategic objectives to optimize market growth and service line expansion.
  • Actively engage with physicians and surgeons in the operating room (OR), demonstrating a strong understanding of OR protocols, procedures, and surgical workflows.
  • Growth Strategy and Market Expansion
  • Develop and execute long-term growth strategies to drive surgical volume, physician partnerships, and market share expansion.
  • Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, service line expansions, and strategic partnerships to enhance market positioning.
  • Conduct in-depth market analysis to assess the competitive landscape, payer mix trends, and patient demographics for data-driven decision-making.
  • Develop compelling, data-driven business cases for strategic growth initiatives and proactively present recommendations to facility leadership.
  • Physician Relations and Referral Development

  • Strengthen and maintain relationships with surgeons, PCPs, pain management specialists, and other high-value referral sources to drive patient volume and retention.

  • Develop, implement, and oversee targeted physician outreach programs, networking events, and educational initiatives to foster engagement and collaboration.

  • Utilize CRM and analytics tools to monitor referral trends, identify growth opportunities, and adjust strategies to optimize physician alignment.

  • Partner with hospital leadership to recruit, onboard, and integrate new surgeons, ensuring alignment with strategic growth objectives.

  • Revenue Growth and Financial Performance

  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams to optimize revenue streams, enhance case mix, and develop effective payer strategies that maximize financial performance.

  • Design and implement data-driven business models and growth forecasts to evaluate the financial viability of new service lines and market expansion initiatives.

  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), revenue trends, and referral performance using analytics tools, providing actionable insights and regular reports to the executive team.

  • Compliance and Operational Excellence

  • Ensure full compliance with Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statutes, HIPAA, and other health care regulations in all business development and provider engagement activities.

  • Collaborate with clinical teams and administrative leaders to optimize referral workflows, streamline processes, and enhance the experience for referring providers.

  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct within the provider relations team, fostering a culture of accountability and regulatory adherence.

  • Reports to the Leader as assigned.

  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors.

  • Occasional exposure to variations in temperature, noise, various building materials and systems, mechanical, electrical, fume/odor, chemical toxic waste, and wet hazards.   • NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs related and miscellaneous duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, Business, Marketing, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).

  • 3+ years of experience in health care business development, physician relations, or hospital administration, with a proven track record of driving growth.

  • Demonstrated success in increasing surgical volume, physician recruitment, and expanding market share.

  • Comprehensive understanding of hospital operations, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), physician practice management, and payer dynamics.

  • Experience in service line development, revenue optimization, and financial growth strategies.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills, with the ability to foster relationships across clinical and administrative teams.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems, referral tracking tools, and health care analytics, leveraging data for business development insights.
