Director, Business Development - Early Clinical Development

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in medicine, pharmacy, biology, or another related life science discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within clinical research, drug development, or CRO environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Phase I and early development programs.
  • Experience supporting sponsor-facing discussions and business development activities.
  • Proficient in English.

Preferred

  • A master’s degree, MBA, or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience within an Early Phase Unit.
  • Experience in Clinical Operations, Project Management, Clinical Pharmacology, or Business Development.
  • Experience supporting multinational or multi-regional studies.
  • Experience participating in proposal development and bid defense activities.

Responsibilities:

Regional ECD Business Development Support

  • Serve as the primary ECD subject matter expert for the assigned region.
  • Partner with Business Development teams to identify, qualify, and advance ECD opportunities.
  • Support client discussions related to early clinical development strategies and study execution approaches.
  • Provide consultative input on development pathways from FIH through early PoC.
  • Support strategic account planning activities involving ECD opportunities.
  • Participate in opportunity strategy discussions and competitive positioning activities.
  • Provide regular updates to Regional BD Leadership and Global ECD Leadership on pipeline, forecast, key opportunities, and business risks.
  • Engage directly with sponsors to understand development objectives and program requirements.
  • Provide guidance on study strategy, country selection, site strategy, patient population considerations, and execution models.
  • Support discussions involving Clinical Pharmacology, First-in-Human development, and early clinical programs.
  • Act as a trusted advisor during pre-RFP, proposal, and bid defense stages.
  • Lead or support development of ECD-specific proposal strategies.
  • Review operational assumptions, study design considerations, timelines, and execution approaches for ECD opportunities.
  • Participate in sponsor presentations and bid defense meetings.
  • Address scientific and operational questions related to ECD programs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop competitive and differentiated solutions.
  • Identify, prospect, and develop ECD opportunities within designated accounts that do not have an assigned Business Development owner.
  • Provide ECD-related training and coaching to Business Development teams.
  • Support development of ECD sales tools, playbooks, and positioning materials.
  • Share market intelligence, competitive insights, and emerging industry trends.
  • Promote consistent ECD messaging and best practices across the organization.
