Director, Data and Product Analytics
Role Overview
The Director of Data & Product Analytics is a senior delivery and engagement role within the APAC Chief Data & Analytics Office. The role is responsible for leading the execution of analytics initiatives and products that support client insight, market strategy, and business decision‑making, while operating within SMBC’s governance and risk frameworks.
This role works closely with the Executive Director and senior stakeholders to translate analytics strategy into delivery, ensuring analytics products are adopted and deliver measurable value.
Key Responsibilities
Analytics Delivery & Product Execution
- Collaboratively design and deliver analytics products that address client, market, and business needs
- Translate strategic priorities into clear analytics roadmaps, delivery plans, and use‑case backlogs
- Ensure analytics outputs move beyond reporting to actionable, repeatable products
Client, Market & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business, client, and market teams to identify high‑value analytics opportunities
- Support development of analytics roadmaps for priority clients and markets
- Communicate analytics insights, trade‑offs, and progress clearly to senior stakeholders
Tools, Platforms & Enablement
- Leverage enterprise analytics tools including Power BI, Alteryx, and analytics capabilities built on Azure and Databricks
- Ensure analytics products are built on governed data assets, aligned with Collibra metadata and control frameworks and enforced through Citadel where applicable
- Work closely with data platform and engineering teams to deliver scalable analytics solutions
Governance, Quality & Risk
- Apply enterprise data governance and quality standards across analytics products
- Ensure analytics solutions comply with internal control, privacy, and regulatory requirements
- Proactively identify and manage analytics delivery and operational risks
Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Lead and mentor analytics practitioners and delivery team members
- Promote best practices across analytics development, visualisation, and adoption
- Track analytics product KPIs and value metrics to improve effectiveness and uptake
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline
10+ years of experience delivering analytics, insights, or data‑driven solutions, ideally in regulated environments
Strong hands‑on understanding of analytics tools, platforms, and delivery approaches
Experience working with senior stakeholders across business and technology teams
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate analytics into business outcomes
