Director, Demand Planning

POSITION SUMMARY

  • The Director, Demand Planning role is responsible for leading a team and producing quality demand forecasts that incorporate both the appropriate internal and external market inputs. Additionally, this role will bring visibility to the demand planning inputs, assumptions, and statistical models to drive more informed decision making and work within the SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) team to identify business risks and growth opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Incorporate sales forecast assumptions to drive project and flow modelling into demand plan
  • Build external market intelligence capabilities to sense and respond to the market
  • Own the demand side of SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning), building a clear view into unconstrained demand for Vertiv offerings
  • Proactively identify demand steering opportunities and incorporate assumptions into demand plan (inventory planning, pricing, promotions, NPDI)
  • Be informed and consider alignment with business targets; 3 year strategic plan – volume and mix
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify project and other big bet opportunities and assess their impact on the demand plan
  • Owns all process improvement and technology requirements to automate and improve demand planning process
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate demand planning and forecasting accuracy, adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Own and execute the monthly orders forecasting process in partnership with the broader Sales, Sales Operations, and FP&A teams
  • Manage and develop a team of demand planning professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and performance excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years demand planning experience with a volume-oriented transaction business and Leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of the IT industry, preferably data center market
  • Collaboration and communication skills
  • Knowledge of sales process / sales experience (to understand inputs)
  • Leadership and influence skills; ability to navigate conflict and build credibility with key stakeholders
  • Ability to drive change, continuous improvement mindset
  • Understanding of channel route to market, two-tiered distribution models
