Job Description:

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a(n) Director, HCC EMEA Regional Lead and HCCO for Germany, located in Umkirch, Hamburg, Germany.

The Director, HCC EMEA Regional Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing the Healthcare Compliance strategy and effective execution of the Compliance Program across Central & Eastern Europe, Mid-sized and Trade markets, Russia and other key EMEA markets for DePuy Synthes. The EMEA Regional Lead also serves as the Compliance Officer for Germany, providing end‑to‑end strategic and operational compliance leadership.

This role partners closely with regional and country commercial, medical, and functional leaders to enable ethical business growth while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. This is a highly visible leadership role with broad regional impact, offering the opportunity to shape compliance strategy in a complex and diverse regulatory environment while supporting innovation and patient access across Orthopedics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the EMEA Healthcare Compliance strategy in alignment with DePuy Synthes global compliance objectives.

  • Serve as a thought partner to senior leaders on complex business initiatives, commercialization strategies, medical affairs activities, and emerging business models in a manner that enables compliant execution.

  • Oversee compliance programs related to commercial, medical, and customer engagement activities across EMEA markets.

  • Partner with Legal, Medical Affairs, Quality, Finance, and other functions to identify, assess, and manage regional compliance risks.

  • Guide investigation and audit issue management and remediation activities in collaboration with Legal and Ethics & Compliance teams.

  • Ensure effective monitoring, auditing, and reporting processes to support continuous improvement and risk reduction.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HCC professionals across the region, fostering a strong culture of integrity and accountability.

  • Support business transformation initiatives and new market models by embedding compliance into strategic planning and execution.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in law, business, healthcare, life sciences, or a related field.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s degree, or Juris Doctor).

Experience and Skills

Required:

  • Minimum 10–12 years of progressive experience in healthcare compliance, legal, regulatory, or risk management roles within life sciences or MedTech.

  • Demonstrated experience leading healthcare compliance programs across multiple countries or regions.

  • Strong knowledge of EMEA healthcare laws, regulations, and industry codes (e.g., EFPIA, MedTech Europe).

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive compliant decision‑making in complex, matrixed organizations.

  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing high‑performing regional teams.

  • Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Orthopedics or MedTech commercial organizations.

  • Prior regional or global compliance leadership experience.

  • Experience working in Switzerland, Germany, or broader EMEA markets.

  • Background supporting business transformation, divestitures, or organizational change.

  • Professional compliance or legal certification (e.g., CHC).

Other

  • Language: Fluency in English required; German and/or additional European languages preferred.

  • Travel: Up to 25–30% international travel within EMEA.

  • Certifications: Compliance or legal certifications preferred.

  • Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required, where applicable.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is:

€106,100.00 - €182,390.00
