Director, Loan Accounting

You will lead accounting for loan-related products and tokenized financial offerings, owning month-end close and ensuring financial statements are accurate and audit ready. You will design scalable accounting frameworks and controls, partner with Technical Accounting, Product, and Engineering on new launches, investigate reconciliation variances using large data sets, and manage and develop a high-performing accounting team.

Responsibilities

  • Own month-end close across loan accounting
  • Prepare and deliver clear reporting on close status, open items, and risk areas to the Controller
  • Oversee accounting for loan origination, servicing, and sales
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements and maintain audit-ready loan documentation
  • Design scalable accounting frameworks and policies
  • Partner with Technical Accounting to establish and maintain policies and controls
  • Support new product launches by defining the full accounting lifecycle and ensuring ledger accuracy from inception
  • Identify risks and opportunities in accounting infrastructure and develop a remediation roadmap
  • Serve as the primary accounting liaison to Product and Engineering on new product launches
  • Manage and grow a high-performing accounting team, setting expectations and holding people accountable
  • Leverage large complex data sets to investigate and resolve reconciliation variances and implement long-term solutions
  • Design, document, and monitor SOX controls across loan accounting processes to ensure control effectiveness and audit readiness

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a people management role
  • Deep knowledge of GAAP financial reporting, loan accounting, and reconciliation management at scale
  • Demonstrated experience designing and improving accounting systems and workflows
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to work through large data sets to resolve complex reconciliation variances
  • Exposure to digital assets, crypto, or blockchain-based systems preferred but not required
  • Experience with SOX compliance, including maintaining controls in a public company or pre-IPO environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting financial status and risk to senior management
  • Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering and translating accounting requirements into system and operational design
