Job Description:
The Director of Market Access Marketing will be responsible for supporting the broad Market Access team in the creation of all strategy and resources for Market Access and field-based access related resources and messaging. This individual will also be responsible for helping shape and executing the company’s market access strategy to ensure optimal product positioning, reimbursement, and patient access across key markets. This role requires a deep understanding of payer dynamics, and provider marketing needs including value communication, and evidence generation, as well as the ability to align cross-functional teams around access objectives. The Director will manage the department and partner closely with internal functions and external partners as well as the US leadership team to build resources that demonstrate and communicate product value and address patient access barriers to payers, providers, and health systems, ultimately contributing to commercial success.
The base compensation range for this role is $230-260K. Base Compensation is influenced by many factors including, but not limited to: time in the role, previous experience, skills, knowledge, performance, work requirements, internal equity, and business / economic conditions.
Access Marketing & Value Communication
- Leading department/team focused on broad Market Access strategy and Marketing support.
- Lead the development of payer-focused marketing materials, tools, and campaigns that effectively articulate product value.
- Lead the development of market access strategies to support inline brands and future new product launches. This includes PBM/Payer as well as Provider and Center focused messaging. This includes access resources and overall strategy to ensure products availability and reimbursement.
- Define access priorities, and tactical plans that address payer, provider, and patient access barriers.
- Monitor evolving access trends across payers, providers, and patient support services to inform strategy.
- Collaborate with HEOR and medical affairs to ensure real-world evidence and clinical data are translated effectively for payer audiences.
- Partner with field market access leadership to design resources and messaging that enable the field access team to educate HCP offices on access, reimbursement, and affordability pathways.
- Develop training and communication tools for field access teams to ensure effective and consistent communication with external stakeholders.
- Lead the development of hub, SP and other channel services related materials and ensure that all materials are clear, compliant, and patient-friendly.
- Collect and analyze insights from internal and external access stakeholders to continuously refine access resources and strategy.
- Track performance of access initiatives to ensure they meet the needs.
- Manage the MRC process to ensure all appropriate resources are reviewed and approved by MRC for distribution and utilization in the field.
Stakeholder Engagement & Insights
- Lead engagement with payer advisory boards to gather insights and shape access strategies.
- Monitor and analyze payer coverage, utilization management trends, and formulary restrictions impacting brand performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with brand marketing, patient services, HEOR, legal, compliance, medical and field market access teams, to ensure alignment and execution of access initiatives.
- Provide market access perspective in annual brand planning, commercial strategy discussions and forecasting to ensure that access strategy is fully integrated into brand plans.
Position requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MPH, or similar) preferred.
- 10+ years progressive relevant experience acquired at pharmaceutical/biotech companies or relevant consultancy companies in a multi-national context with at least 5 years in market access, payer marketing, or related strategic roles. Recent experience leading a team in a similar function.
- Good understanding of the US payer and market access dynamics, preferably both Pharmacy and Medical Covered products.
- Good knowledge and / or experience with market research tools, methodologies, and analytics.
- Must have strong leadership skills, strategic mindset, and the ability to manage by influence, excellent oral and written skills.
- The ability to work well in a matrix team environment and independently across multiple projects.
