The Director is responsible for\nphilanthropic strategy, institutional fundraising, and long\-term endowment\nbuilding at the university.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

Reporting to the CEO and working\nclosely with the Board of Founders, the Director of Advancement will be\nresponsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising\narchitecture, spanning individual philanthropy, institutional grants, corporate\npartnerships, and endowment corpus development, while building the systems,\nrelationships, and culture that allow Rishihood to fund its next phase of\ngrowth sustainably.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

This is a Mumbai based role with\nsignificant travel, both domestic and international, for donor engagement,\ndiaspora outreach, and institutional partnership development.<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

Rishihood University is entering its\nnext phase of institutional growth. Since its formal inauguration in late 2021,\nthe institution has: <\/span><\/span><\/span>

1. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Fundraising Strategy and Execution<\/span><\/span><\/b>
<\/p>

a. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Design and own Rishihood's multi\-year fundraising\nstrategy, including annual giving, major gifts, endowments, grants, and\ncorporate partnerships<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

b. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Set and deliver ambitious but credible fundraising\ntargets in consultation with the leadership team<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

c. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Build and maintain a live, tiered pipeline of prospective\ndonors including HNIs, family offices, foundations, diaspora networks, and\ninstitutional funders<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

d. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Lead the conversion of warm relationships into structured\nphilanthropic commitments, from first conversation to gift closure<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

e. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Identify and pursue institutional grants from\nfoundations, bilateral agencies, and government schemes relevant to Rishihood's\nmission<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

2. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Donor Cultivation and Stewardship<\/span><\/span><\/b>
<\/p>

a. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Build deep, long\-term relationships with existing and\nprospective donors \u2014 approaching each relationship as a decade\-long\ninstitutional partnership, not a transactional ask<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

b. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Design and execute a systematic stewardship programme \-\nreporting, recognition, impact documentation, and ongoing engagement, for all\ndonors at every tier<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

c. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Lead Rishihood's engagement with high\-net\-worth\nindividuals and family offices in India, the US (particularly the South Asian\ndiaspora), the UK, and the Gulf<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

d. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Partner with the Chancellor, CEO, and VC on high\-stakes\ndonor conversations where institutional leadership access is required<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

3. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Endowment and Corpus Development<\/span><\/span><\/b>
<\/p>

a. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Build the strategy and roadmap for Rishihood's long\-term\nendowment corpus including naming gifts, school endowments, chair endowments,\nand scholarship funds<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

b. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Work with legal and financial advisors to structure gifts\nappropriately including cash, securities, real estate, planned giving, and\ninternational transfers<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

c. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Develop a framework for corpus management and investment\noversight in partnership with the Governing Body and finance function<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

d. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Track global best practices in university endowment\nmanagement and apply them to Rishihood's context<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

4. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Institutional and Corporate Partnerships<\/span><\/span><\/b>

a. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Identify and develop corporate partnerships that go\nbeyond CSR, building relationships with companies that have a strategic\ninterest in education, leadership, research, or national development<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

b. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Structure multi\-year partnership agreements with clear\ninstitutional value on both sides<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

c. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Engage with foundations, bilateral programmes, and\nmultilateral institutions for project\-based and programme\-level funding<\/span><\/span>

5. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Advancement Systems and Team Building<\/span><\/span><\/b>

a. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Build and lead the Advancement team including major gifts\nofficers, grants writers, database managers, and stewardship coordinators<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

b. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Implement a professional CRM and donor management system\nto manage pipeline, reporting, and relationship history at scale<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

c. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Establish rigorous reporting systems, dashboards,\npipeline reviews, and Board\-level advancement reports<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

d. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Create the internal culture and processes that make\nadvancement a serious, well\-resourced, professionally run function<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

6. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Events, Visits, and Diaspora Engagement<\/span><\/span><\/b>
<\/p>

a. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Design and execute high\-impact donor events (in India and\ninternationally) that deepen relationships, showcase Rishihood's impact, and\nmove prospects through the pipeline<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

b. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Lead Rishihood's annual US, UK, and Gulf visits with a\nclear fundraising and relationship strategy built around each trip<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

c. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b>Build Rishihood's presence within influential diaspora\nnetworks such as IIT alumni associations, South Asian professional networks,\ncommunity foundations, and giving circles<\/span><\/span>
<\/p>

Qualifications & Experience<\/span><\/span>
<\/h1>

  • Master\u2019s degree\n required; PhD preferred.<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • 15+ years of experience<\/span><\/b> in institutional fundraising, investment\n banking, financial services, or a combination with a demonstrated track\n record of raising significant institutional capital or closing large,\n complex transactions<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Experience working with HNIs,\n family offices, and institutional investors<\/b> and an instinct for how\n high\-net\-worth individuals think about capital, legacy, and long\-term\n commitment<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Prior experience in university\n advancement, development, or philanthropy<\/b> strongly preferred or\n equivalent experience raising funds for institutions, not just commercial\n clients<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • The ability to build and\n manage a pipeline<\/b> with the same rigour that a banker would manage a\n deal book \- tracking relationships, managing timelines, and knowing when\n to push and when to wait<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Deep understanding of gift\n structuring, endowment design, and philanthropic vehicles<\/b>, including\n Indian and international tax and legal considerations<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • Exceptional written and\n verbal communication<\/b> and the ability to write a compelling case for\n support, hold a nuanced donor conversation, and represent Rishihood\n credibly at the highest levels<\/span>
    <\/li>
  • A genuine belief in Rishihood's\n mission<\/b>. This role requires the conviction to ask people to invest in\n something they may not fully understand yet, and the ability to make them\n understand it<\/span>
