Director of Growth
As the Director of Growth for JD Sports North America, you will own the strategy, allocation, and optimization of our digital customer acquisition engine. JD Sports sits at the epicenter of sneaker culture, streetwear, and global sports retail. In this role, you will lead an ambitious team of growth marketers and channel specialists tasked with scaling our performance marketing efforts, accelerating e-commerce revenue, and driving high-value traffic across our digital storefronts (JDsports.com and Finishline.com).
This role requires a combination of retail business acumen, high-impact team leadership, and deep technical proficiency across automated search and full-funnel paid media. You will turn data into cultural momentum, ensuring that JD Sports remains the premier destination for the latest drops and sportswear trends. Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Scale
Manage Multiple Direct Reports: Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing internal team of specialized growth marketers (including channel managers and specialists) while effectively managing top-tier external agency relationships.
Strategic Budget Allocation: Direct a multi-million dollar annual acquisition budget across North American digital marketing initiatives, ensuring optimal cross-channel deployment to scale customer acquisition costs (CAC) efficiently.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate closely with Brand Marketing, Merchandising, and E-commerce Operations teams to align paid media spend with product availability, high-heat sneaker drops, and seasonal promotional calendars.
Performance Media & Channel Execution
Hit acquisition volume targets and ROAS/efficiency targets simultaneously - knowing when to push growth and when to pull back
Advanced Search & PMAX Strategy: Drive the overarching paid search roadmap, with a major focus on maximizing the efficiency of Google Performance Max (PMAX) and automated smart bidding architectures to dominate retail market share.
Full-Funnel Paid Social: Oversee paid social strategy across mature and emerging platforms—specifically Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and YouTube—leveraging algorithmic targeting and creative testing frameworks to capture youth culture.
Affiliate & Partner Distribution: Scale the North American Affiliate marketing program, shifting past transactional coupon models to focus on strategic content publishers, lifestyle blogs, and high-influence creator networks.
Data Attribution & Testing: Spearhead multi-touch attribution, conversion rate optimization (CRO) testing frameworks, and data integration efforts to continually improve Return on Ad Spend (ROAS).
Creative strategy and testing roadmap in partnership with our brand marketing and Creative team
Qualifications & Experience
Proven Retail Background: 7+ years of performance marketing/growth experience, with a mandatory background in retail or e-commerce ecosystems (footwear, apparel, or consumer goods strongly preferred).
Experience managing acquisition across multiple channels brands, business lines or conversion events.
Experience managing $50m+ in performance marketing budget
People Leadership: Proven track record of managing and scaling a team with multiple direct reports. You excel at setting clear KPIs, fostering professional growth, and keeping teams aligned in a fast-paced retail environment.
Deep Functional Stack Expertise: Explicit, hands-on strategic knowledge across:
Paid Social: Expert-level command of Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads, Pinterest, and YouTube (Reddit, Snap, etc are preferred as well).
Search/PMAX: Deep proficiency in Google's automation suites, product feed health, and shopping structures.
Affiliate Networks: Success in running scaled affiliate programs via networks like Impact or Rakuten.
Analytical Rigor: Strong data fluency using GA4, Looker Studio, and marketing data pipelines to extract actionable insights. Experience with platforms such as Northbeam, Measured, Analytics Partners, or other MMM partners are preferred.
Familiarity with SEO/AEO/GEO strategy and the role organic plays in a full-funnel acquisition mix
Fluency with Agentic AI tools as a genuine performance and workflow accelerator
Cultural Connection: A deep understanding of youth culture, streetwear fashion, and the lifestyle dynamics that fuel the JD Sports brand.

This role will have a 15% bonus target annually but may vary based on experience level.
