The 123-room Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is the company’s second destination in Japan, in the city’s historic Higashiyama-ku district, close to the Kyoto National Museum and myriad heritage sites such as the Toyokuni Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. Local artists are featured throughout the traditionally-inspired modern décor characterised by an understated Japanese aesthetic. About the role
The Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto is looking for a Director of Housekeeping. Candidates with passion for excellence, expertise in hospitality operations and proven leadership experience are invited to apply for a career with Four Seasons. As a member of the Rooms Division, the Director of Housekeeping works across disciplines to deliver an exceptional experience.
What you will do
- Plan, organize, lead and control different projects and activities within the Housekeeping team.
- Identify coaching moments and ensure that those moments become opportunities of learning and development for the Housekeeping team.
- Establish a rapport with the Housekeeping team and other divisions within the hotel.
- To compile and to submit, on a yearly basis, the operating budgets, the capital expenditures, and the department’s requirements for linens, uniforms and all other consumables.
- To develop and issue written procedures for all departments under the jurisdiction of Housekeeping.
- Ensure service and production is provided in the proper manner, and the usual high standards of a Four Seasons Hotel. Understand, maintain and execute operational manuals and guidelines.
- Establish safe working conditions and practices. Ensure proper cleanliness in all areas. Require staff to wear proper apparel at all times.
- Monitor and control expenses of the hotel paying special attention to the daily reporting done by the auditor of the hotel and addressing issues that not only have material effect, but also effect the guest experience.
- Understand and Control Costs. Detect waste in productivity in terms of minutes, methods, money, machines, and materials and take the proper action.
What you bring
- Over two to five years of experience in the related position with Four Seasons or other organization
