Director of Quality

The Director of Quality is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality management systems that ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products and exceptional customer experience. This role drives a culture of continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence by partnering cross-functionally across manufacturing, supply chain, and engineering. The position oversees regulatory compliance and leads initiatives to improve overall quality performance and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute site quality strategy aligned with global standards and regional objectives
  • Lead the Quality organization, including Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, Lab/Testing, and Quality Systems
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to measure quality performance and drive accountability
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making
  • Partner cross-functionally to develop and deploy quality improvement initiatives

Operational Quality Excellence

  • Ensure robust quality control processes across manufacturing operations
  • Drive adherence to Bosch Production System (BPS) and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
  • Lead initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, rework, and customer returns
  • Ensure quality readiness for new product launches (APQP, PPAP, process validation)

Customer & Supplier Quality

  • Serve as primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and lead resolution (8D)
  • Monitor and improve customer satisfaction metrics (PPM, complaints, warranty trends)
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality to manage supplier performance and issue resolution
  • Build strong partnerships with customers and suppliers to drive proactive improvements

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable regulatory standards
  • Maintain audit readiness and lead internal and external audits
  • Oversee quality documentation (control plans, FMEAs, SOPs, work instructions)
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies and governance frameworks

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure “quality at source”
  • Support capital projects, automation, and digital transformation initiatives
  • Integrate quality early in product and process design (DfX principles)
  • Contribute to strategic planning, cost optimization, and capacity expansion efforts

Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Utilize data and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Minitab, SAP) to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using structured methodologies (8D, DMAIC)
  • Drive continuous improvement aligned with plant and divisional goals
  • Champion Industry 4.0 and digital quality initiatives

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Customer PPM and warranty cost reduction
  • Internal defect rate and cost of poor quality
  • Audit performance (internal and external)
  • Timely resolution of quality issues
  • Supplier quality performance

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in quality and manufacturing environments
  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing cross-functional teams
  • Strong knowledge of Bosch Production System, ISO9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA
  • Willingness to travel as require (up to 15%)

Preferred Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • CQM, CQE and Six Sigma certification is preferred
  • Proven experience in high-volume manufacturing or complex assembly
  • Proven track record of implementing successful quality improvement initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to interpret complex data
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
