Director, Platform Strategy

Please note: This position requires you to live within California, and ideally within the Los Angeles, CA area. This role will also require up to 50% travel.
Role Scope:
We are seeking a strategic, product-minded leader to shape and deliver Habitat Health’s platform strategy—a role that connects vision to execution across technology, data, and business operations. The Director of Platform Strategy will define, pilot, and scale technology capabilities with an initial focus on automation, AI enablement, and digital experiences. This leader will partner across functions to identify opportunities for differentiation, evaluate potential solutions and vendors, oversee pilot design and execution, and integrate successful innovations into the core platform. You will serve as a connector between business, data, and technology teams, ensuring alignment between Habitat’s “tech-enabled” vision and the day-to-day needs of care teams and participants. The role blends strategic thinking, program delivery, and strong relationship management with both internal and external partners.
- Lead the end-to-end automation and AI pilot lifecycle, from opportunity identification to final evaluation and recommendation for scale, integration, or sunset.
- Proactively engaging for environmental scans to ensure awareness and identification of new innovations and solutions that could be value creating for our platform
- Develop and maintain a structured framework for partner selection, pilot implementation, and performance evaluation.
- Lead requirements definition in partnership with business SMEs, ensuring clear objectives, metrics, and scope.
- Research and evaluate all relevant potential tools and solutions, maintaining a living view of the external vendor landscape.
- Lead implementation in collaboration with Platform, Operations, Clinical, and enterprise teams; oversee vendor deliverables, training, and adoption.
- Conduct ongoing evaluation of pilots using defined KPIs (e.g. adoption, impact / value, satisfaction, compliance).
- Deliver and implement final recommendation for each pilot (e.g. integrate into the core stack, continue as a standalone tool, or sunset with alternatives identified).
- Collaborate with internal business owners to map and prioritize processes that can be improved or automated by technology, focusing on areas that advance clinical excellence, participant experience, and operational efficiency.
- Translate insights from pilots into scalable platform capabilities, coordinating with operations and clinical partners, strategic tool and data teams to ensure alignment across Habitat’s enterprise architecture.
- Drive cross-functional governance and communication, ensuring clear objectives, roles, timelines, and success metrics.
- Build and nurture strategic vendor relationships that complement Habitat’s ecosystem and long-term growth plan.
- Partner with Finance and Compliance to evaluate investment cases, risk, and regulatory considerations.
- Serve as an internal champion for Habitat’s “tech-enabled” transformation, promoting data-driven decision-making and digital adoption across the organization.
Qualifications:

- Excellent communicator with ability to lead with influence across PACE Center Leadership, Office of CMO, Population Health, Practice Operations, Finance, Strategy, Growth, and Health Plan Operations.
- Working knowledge of AI, ML, and automation technologies, and their practical applications in healthcare operations.
- Strategic, analytical, and systems-oriented thinker with the ability to structure complex decisions.
- 5+ years of experience in product and / or technology strategy, platform enablement, or innovation within healthcare, health tech, or regulated industries.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience working with strategic process improvement and technology enablement at various levels.
- Understanding of various technology stacks, and significant experience in value-based care focused on ecosystems that include administrative health plan tools, EHR/EMR, and CRM.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with AI, automation, or digital transformation initiatives from concept through implementation and scaling.
- Energized by ambiguity & a self-starter: loves to drive the direction of ambiguous projects.
Nice to have:
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
- Experience in PACE, value-based care, or managed care organizations.
- Advanced degree in Business, Innovation, or a related field.
Compensation:
We take into account an individual’s qualifications, skillset, and experience in determining final salary. This role is eligible for medical/dental/vision insurance, paid parental leave (birthing and non-birthing parents), short and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) savings, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The expected salary range for this position is $195,000 - $222,000 and is a bonus-eligible position. Please note, the higher end of this range is reflected individuals located in CA and San Francisco. The actual offer will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by relevant business considerations, including the final candidate’s qualifications, years of experience, skillset, and geographic location.
