Director of Strategic Account Management

About the Role

The Director of Strategic Account Management leads the team responsible for Uber Freight’s highest growth, most complex, and highest long-term value strategic customers. This is a high-impact leadership role at the intersection of Commercial strategy and Operations execution. You won't just be managing accounts; you will be building the foundational commercial framework for retention, value delivery, and continuous improvement across the strategic account 3PL portfolio.

A critical focus of this role is bridging the gap between promise and delivery. The role will architect and establish a formalized Account Health review framework to drive absolute accountability between our Commercial and Operations organizations. Externally, you will serve as the executive face of Uber Freight, cultivating deep relationships with customer leadership and representing our bundled suite of core capacity services.

What You Will Do

  • Architect the Commercial Framework: Design, implement, and refine the strategic framework that drives retention, value delivery, and continuous improvement for Uber Freight’s top-tier strategic accounts.
  • Bridge Commercial & Operations: Establish and champion a formalized Account Health review framework, creating shared accountability, streamlining communication, and aligning internal Ops teams with Commercial promises.
  • Executive Sponsorship: Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with C-suite and VP-level stakeholders at customer organizations, acting as the senior point of contact representing Uber Freight’s comprehensive, bundled suite of core capacity services.
  • Lead & Empower a High-Performing Team: Hire, mentor, and elevate a team of Strategic Account Managers (SAMs). Foster a culture of proactive problem-solving, strategic account planning, and career growth.
  • Drive Growth & Portfolio Hygiene: Oversee the team’s contract pricing strategies, renewal pipelines, and Salesforce hygiene. Partner closely with Pricing and AE leadership to unlock organic growth and mitigate portfolio risk.
  • Executive Escalation & Strategy: Serve as the ultimate internal and external escalation point for critical account health issues, leveraging data-driven insights to transform operational challenges into strategic wins.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in freight brokerage, 3PL, or logistics management, with a heavy emphasis on managing complex, Enterprise-level accounts.
  • 3+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of building, coaching, and scaling high-performing commercial or account management teams.
  • Demonstrated experience building cross-functional frameworks or operational governance models (specifically aligning sales/commercial goals with operational execution).
  • Exceptional executive presence with polished communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills capable of influencing C-suite stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical acumen with the ability to translate complex supply chain data into macro-level strategic decisions and operational accountability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing or designing solutions for a bundled suite of logistics services (e.g., Managed Transportation, Dedicated, Brokerage, and TMS technology).
  • Deep familiarity with advanced CRM strategies (Salesforce), logistics software, and data visualization tools.
