JOB DESCRIPTION: District Sales Manager, Mining CBU DuBois Chemicals

DuBois Chemicals is looking for a high performing District Sales Manager (DSM) to manage and develop Eastern Canada business with a focus on the Mining and Terminal Operations marketplace. With a focus on growth, the District Sales Manager will identify, engage and promote DuBois’ innovative technologies to new and existing clients both directly and through our distribution partner. DuBois is committed to ecologically responsible chemistry and is continuously developing proprietary “green”, sustainable technology and products. We help our customers improve production efficiencies, environmental impacts, water usage, worker safety, social license and meet and exceed regulatory limits.

The District Sales Manager will promote, sell and service chemical solutions for dust suppression, freeze-conditioning (antifreeze), spontaneous combustion inhibition, liquid-solid separation and antiscalant technologies for hard rock and coal mining operations as well as terminal operations. The DSM will also have access to the full portfolio of DuBois solutions for the assigned customer base.

The District Sales Manager will have:

  • a minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining process chemical sales
  • strong record of sales growth
  • demonstrated ability to work independently and safely in a mining environment

DuBois Chemical’s Mining Division is a leading manufacturer of custom-designed chemical solutions for conveyance, storage, and processing of materials such as sulphur, mineral ores, and coal. Support of our continuing product development efforts and active customer projects necessitates the addition of a District Sales Manager to manage customer relationships from executive level through to operations. The successful applicant will have experience with chemical handling equipment, specifically pumps, storage tank solutions, and associated spray equipment installations, as well as maintenance and support of these installations.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop new sales leads and grow business, independently and with Distributor,
  • Manage customer business relationships in the sales region which includes but not limited to Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Iqualiut.
  • Work closely with DuBois Technical Service Representatives and customer operations personnel to solve customer problems, install and repair application systems and support chemical applications with customers.
  • Knowledge of mining / industrial safety procedures, safe driving practices, and safe work procedures are key elements as the work and travel conditions can be dangerous.
  • Report to the Mining Sector Business Director.
  • Growth targets for sales are initially 50% per year, existing sales are $1M/yr.
  • Travel 40-60%, working at remote sites will be necessary.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Engineering Technology is preferred,
  • 10+ years’ experience in heavy industry or manufacturing,
  • Valid driver’s license required,
  • Knowledge of chemical application systems is required,
  • Ability to manage complex, large customer accounts independently, as well as distributor relationships.
  • Hands-on ability to repair, install and troubleshoot application systems is required,
  • Previous sales training is required,
  • Strong communication skills – ability to clearly communicate with internal and external stakeholders,
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CRM),
  • Programming logic for application systems is a strong benefit,
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team,
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round at customer sites.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers and industry personnel.
