Job Details

General Summary:

Responsible for coordinating and executing departmental processes for new stores, relocations, closings, remodels and special projects for an assigned territory. Manage a team Sr. Project Managers and up to 20 merchandisers to achieve company objectives and goals while effectively managing target costs and schedules to increase sales weeks and store / company profitability.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to Sr. Project Managers, merchandising teams and 3rd parties as assigned ensuring effective execution of strategic objectives while maintaining budgets and achieving on time delivery of all activities, tasks, and scope of work for new stores, relocations, remodels, and special projects.
  • Maximize the performance and productivity through teaching, training, and coaching of all teams, including 3rd parties, assisting, and directing execution of processes to achieve expected results.
  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting ensuring all documents comply with company policies supporting company mission, values, standards, and ethics with integrity.
  • Provides critical leadership, coordination and communications with all stakeholders involved on projects. Leverages continuous communication to choreograph project execution and resolve project specific issues.
  • Ensure development of all direct reports, to include 3rd party personnel, through proper selection of candidates. Through inclusion and diversity provide support for individual career growth and development.
  • Rigorously supports the identification, evaluation, implementation, and execution of processes that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Monitor and research all direct report expenses focusing on company/department expense goals and Zero Based Budget.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Demonstrates ability to produce desired results through execution, maintaining expense control, and ability to manage effectively
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills to consistently react appropriately under pressure, apply good judgment in ambiguous situations, and demonstrate flexibility/adaptability
  • Ability to effectively work with others in scheduling and executing all projects to achieve company objectives in a participative management style
  • Demonstrates strong verbal, written and technical communication abilities
  • Demonstrates leadership skills to train and develop staff to meet company objectives
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, standing, and climbing ladders
  • Frequent handling of equipment (hand-held scanner, price guns, box cutters, rolltainers)
  • Occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds to unload fixture and merchandise trucks and stock shelves
  • Extensive driving with overnight stays during length of projects
  • Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions

Work Experience &/or Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of multi-unit retail experience required, with merchandising knowledge preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Previous retail experience with discount, convenience, grocery, or similar environment.
