Enterprise Data Architect
About the Role
Nexperia’s 2026–2030 AI vision depends on strong data foundations designed as a product portfolio to enable scalable and responsible AI. This role owns the architecture of those foundations.
As an Enterprise Data Architect – you will define how enterprise data is designed, governed, and consumed across analytics and AI, including data products, data contracts, lineage, and semantic standards. You will also shape key platform decisions, including SAP BW (BW on HANA, BW/4HANA) and the next-generation enterprise data platform.
This is a hands-on senior role where you will design solutions, build prototypes, and work directly with data engineers to deliver reference architectures. Based in Kuala Lumpur with hybrid flexibility, you will operate close to data producers and consumers while defining global standards.
What You Will Do
Define and Own the Enterprise Data Architecture
Own the enterprise data target architecture, including data product portfolio, master data, semantic layer, lineage, data quality SLAs, and residency principles
Define standards for data products and data contracts, including ownership, lifecycle, consumers, and measurable quality
Apply data mesh principles where appropriate to enable scalable and federated data ownership
Establish end-to-end lineage and semantic consistency to support trusted analytics and AI
Prototype key architectural patterns and contribute through architecture-as-code and reference implementations
Shape the Data Platform Strategy
Provide architectural direction for SAP BW evolution (BW on HANA, BW/4HANA) and next-generation platforms (lakehouse, Microsoft Fabric, data mesh patterns)
Define hybrid and on-premise integration patterns, ensuring portability and exit strategies
Design how enterprise data, telemetry, and business knowledge are exposed as consumable data products for analytics and AI
Embed Governance, Security, and Compliance
Design for data residency, sovereignty, classification, retention, and secure access (IAM-aligned models)
Translate regulatory requirements (GDPR, EU AI Act, etc.) into reusable architectural controls
Act as a key architectural voice within the Data Center of Enablement, supporting governance, standards, and exception handling
Enable AI and Integration Architecture
Collaborate with AI and Integration Architects to ensure governed data products support enterprise AI platforms
Define AI-ready data contracts, grounded retrieval patterns, lineage-aware evaluation, and observability frameworks
Enable trusted AI outcomes through strong data foundations and governance
What You Will Need
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Data, Engineering, or related field, with strong experience in enterprise IT and data architecture (or equivalent experience)
Good communication and written skills in English, additional languages are an advantage
Proven experience designing enterprise-scale data architectures in complex global environments
Strong knowledge of modern data foundations: data products, data contracts, MDM, semantic layers, lineage, and integration
Experience with SAP BW (BW on HANA, BW/4HANA) and modern platforms such as lakehouse, Microsoft Fabric, and data mesh
Ability to shape enterprise data platform strategy with strong architectural judgment
Hands-on builder mindset with experience in prototyping and reference implementations
Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior stakeholders through clear reasoning and trade-offs
Ability to balance governance, security, and innovation in scalable data architectures
Nice to have
AI-ready data architecture experience (e.g. retrieval, observability, evaluation)
Hybrid cloud and on-premise experience, including sovereign cloud
Manufacturing or semiconductor industry exposure
Architecture certifications (TOGAF, IASA, DAMA-CDMP) or ArchiMate familiarity
