Drainage Engineer

Primary Purpose of Job:

Contribute to the ongoing growth of Stantec ResourceNet Private India Ltd by providing technical inputs with minimum supervision in specialist areas of gravity network design & modelling (stormwater & sewerage). To be involved in the implementation and delivery of leading-edge programmes and projects.

Support team by providing technical inputs as directed/guided with minimum supervision to ensure that project outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality standards, meet both the Client and Stantec expectations.

Key Accountabilities:

Assist senior/lead hydraulic modeler for the infrastructure sector. Support on technical matters related to engineering designs and regulatory compliance to deliver the projects with minimum supervision requirement:

  • Work within hydraulic modelling team (modelers & drafting team) to deliver transportation/area drainage and sewerage projects preferably in US, Canada, ANZ and/or UK region as per the requirement,
  • Model build, calibration and validation as required/directed with minimum support requirement,
  • Optioneering and outline design of hydraulic solutions as required/guided with minimum support requirement,
  • Assist in preparation of technical reports/drawings as required/guided with minimum support requirement,
  • Liable for quality deliverables meeting the Client standards,
  • Handling and managing large data sets for analysis,
  • Carry out other duties as may be assigned from time to time by supervisor/management,
  • Need to work off-working hours for Client co-ordination/project requirement: Occasionally, and
  • Need to travel offshore for training/on-site project work: Occasionally

Person Specifications:

  • Master’s degree in civil/water resources/environmental engineering with 4+ years of experience and at least 3+ years of experience working on and managing hydraulic modelling design projects in US, Canada, ANZ and/or UK,
  • Knowledgeable in 1D & 2D hydraulic modelling, model building/calibration/validation, hydraulics & hydrology for stormwater management/networks, site drainage and sewerage collection & disposal,
  • Expected hydraulic modelling software exposure – InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, MicroDrainage, 12D Drainage, SewerGEMS, ICPR and/or PCSWMM,
  • Exposure of other modelling softwares such as InfoSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Civil3D, WaterGEMS etc. will be an added advantage,
  • Working exposure to Common Data Environment (CDE) tools preferable – ProjectWise, AutoDesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Sharepoint etc.,
  • Possess good data management/interpretation/representation abilities (MS Excel, Power BI) as directed/guided with minimum support requirement,
  • Good in technical report writing as directed/guided with minimum support requirement,
  • Able to interact with Clients, if and when required,
  • Demonstrate potential to analyze, assess and evaluate the issues & complexity pertaining to projects/work packages,
  • Attention to detail, able to understand & adopt workflows and commitment to personal/professional development,
  • Competent level of baseline skills, i.e. professional and confident with the essential, basic business and communication skills that are required for career growth in all positions,
  • Flexible attitude to accepting different types of work assignments and pro-active attitude to execution/delivery with a knack of learning new tools,
  • Ability to understand project requirements and take directions from senior engineers and execute them efficiently with minimum supervision requirement,
  • Basic technical knowledge in all relevant areas of drainage engineering,
  • Effective communicator with excellent organization skills, and ability to work under tight schedules with flexible timings,
  • Ability to make decisions and strong problem resolution skills with minimum supervision requirement, and
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and technical specialists.
