Drainage Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze surface water and storm drainage systems for DPWH roads, highways, flood control projects, and private developments
Prepare drainage studies and hydraulic calculations, using InfoDrainage, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS
Develop drainage layouts, profiles, cross-sections, and construction details using AutoCAD/Civil 3D
Utilize GIS tools to analyze catchments, flood extents, topography, and drainage networks
Apply climate-resilient and flood mitigation design practices suitable for typhoon-prone areas
Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for DPWH submissions and private client approvals
Coordinate with DPWH District and Regional Offices, LGUs, and other regulatory agencies
Support environmental compliance (ECC, EIA/IEE inputs related to drainage and flood risk)
Review contractor shop drawings and provide technical support during construction
Conduct site inspections and resolve drainage-related construction issues
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, geotechnical, and environmental engineers
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
PRC Licensed Civil Engineer – required
4–7 years of relevant experience in drainage, flood control, or civil infrastructure projects
Demonstrated experience on DPWH-funded projects and private developments
Technical Skills
Proficiency in InfoDrainage for stormwater and drainage design
Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial and hydrologic analysis
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Civil 3D
Familiarity with HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS
Strong understanding of DPWH Drainage Design Guidelines, road drainage, culverts, channels, and flood control structures
Knowledge of Philippine rainfall data, design storms, and flood return periods
Ability to prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and drawings
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication with government agencies, contractors, and private clients
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
High level of attention to detail and accountability
Working Conditions
Office-based with site inspections
Exposure to both DPWH and private-sector project environments
Occasional travel to regional project locations
