In this position...
Ford Underbody Systems Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to supervise a team of Design and Release Engineers delivering all internally designed and manufactured axle systems. Deliverables include design engineering, validation, launch, and ongoing production quality. Strong Driveline skills and experience are required to be successful in this role, as well as manufacturing experience in the Driveline commodity.

This key role within the Ford Driveline Engineering Department requires a dynamic and flexible individual that can handle multiple projects in different phases, but with many common parts. These programs will be built out of a singular manufacturing site, so on-site presence in Sterling, MI with the manufacturing team is also a key enabler to success.

Manage team of 7-10 engineers, delivering all in-house engineered axle systems. These range from light-duty independent axles, to heavy-duty beam axles.
Key technical hardware oversight of the Axle system, including close interface with the calibration, Transmission, NVH, and chassis organizations.
Close interface with our component engineering teams on key program deliverables
Responsible for program delivery of Quality, Cost, Weight, Function and Timing (QCWFT) for the axle commodity. From Underbody Virtual series through OKTB.

Lead new axle development in the form of “unit” programs, in which you will have separate engineering gateways up-front that support forward model vehicle programs.
Support prototype builds for axle systems and vehicle prototypes
You will interact directly with our in-house Axle manufacturing teams, which will include close interface with new design developments, ongoing production concerns, and in-field quality metrics.

Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
4+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge. Other Underbody commodity experience will be considered.
4+ years of experience with plant, manufacturing, launch experience, tooling knowledge, experience in all phases of product development

Desired Characteristics
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
6+ years of experience with Driveline systems and components experience and knowledge
Experience with GPDS and other Ford engineering tools (TeamCenter, WERS, FEDE, etc.)
Experience in a leadership capacity leading and guiding others
One Ford Behavior, ability to work cross-functionally, build team consensus
Superior written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
