Driver/Dockhand

Team Global Express is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Driver / Dockhand to join our Priority team based at Hobart Airport.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on role combining both driving and freight handling responsibilities. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will play an important role in ensuring freight is delivered safely, efficiently, and on time while supporting daily depot operations.

Monday to Friday
5:30 am – 1:36pm (30-minute unpaid break)
38 hours per week

About the Role
As a Driver / Dockhand, you will be responsible for completing local pickups and deliveries while assisting with loading, unloading, and freight handling activities within the depot.

You will work closely with drivers, customers, and operational teams to ensure freight is moved safely and efficiently while maintaining high standards of customer service and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete local pickup and delivery activities safely and on time
  • Load and unload freight safely and efficiently
  • Operate handheld scanning devices to track freight movements
  • Secure freight using appropriate load restraint methods
  • Conduct daily vehicle pre-start inspections and safety checks
  • Complete delivery paperwork and operational documentation accurately
  • Assist with freight sorting and dock operations as required
  • Operate a forklift when required (licence highly regarded)
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies, and compliance requirements
  • Report hazards, incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service at all times
  • Support the wider depot team to achieve operational targets

About You
  • Previous experience in a Driver, Dockhand, Freight Handler, or Transport role
  • Current Driver's Licence (MR / HR Licence Advantageous)
  • Ability to drive both manual and automatic vehicles
  • Forklift Licence (Essential)
  • Strong safety focus and commitment to safe work practices
  • Experience loading and unloading freight
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Physically capable of performing manual handling tasks
  • Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work
