(Early Years) Preschool Teacher (Half-Day)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 12:30pm
Age Group: 18 to 36 months

Role Overview

The Early Years Educator provides a safe, nurturing and engaging environment that supports children’s well-being, learning and holistic development through responsive caregiving, purposeful play and consistent routines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and facilitate developmentally appropriate experiences through play, sensory exploration, music, movement, stories and outdoor activities.
  • Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans based on the curriculum objectives, children’s interests, developmental needs and observations.
  • Prepare suitable learning materials and organise inviting learning environments.
  • Observe children’s engagement and development during activities and daily routines.
  • Complete timely lesson evaluations, reflecting on children’s responses, achievement of learning objectives and areas for improvement.
  • Use observations and evaluations to adapt teaching strategies and plan appropriate follow-up experiences.
  • Build warm and trusting relationships that help children feel safe, secure and confident.
  • Support daily routines, including arrival, toileting or diaper changing, handwashing, meals and transitions.
  • Encourage children’s communication, social-emotional, physical and cognitive development.
  • Guide children in developing independence, self-help skills and positive relationships.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of children’s learning, development and well-being.
  • Communicate professionally with parents about their child’s experiences and progress.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised learning environment.
  • Conduct daily safety checks and supervise children closely at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team to ensure consistent routines, care and curriculum delivery.
  • Follow the school’s policies relating to health, hygiene, child protection, safety and confidentiality.
  • Participate in meetings, professional development and school events when required.


Requirements

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education or an equivalent ECDA-recognised qualification.
  • ECDA-certified at L2 level.
  • Experience working with children aged 18 to 36 months is preferred.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate, play-based practices.
  • Able to plan lessons, document observations and evaluate children’s learning.
  • Patient, nurturing and responsive to young children’s needs.
  • Comfortable supporting toileting, diaper changing and other caregiving routines.
  • Responsible, organised and able to meet planning and documentation deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Committed to children’s safety, well-being and holistic development.
