Editorial Traineeship

OVERVIEW

This opportunity is part of a six-month traineeship program, providing hands-on experience within CNBC’s editorial and newsroom teams in Abu Dhabi.

As an Editorial Trainee, you will gain structured exposure across live broadcast production, newsroom operations, field reporting, and digital content creation. You will work closely with producers, reporters and editors to support daily programming while developing core journalism and storytelling skills.

The role is designed for early-career graduates aspiring to build a career in TV news and business journalism. Trainees will learn how global newsrooms operate, contribute to editorial output, and develop a strong foundation in financial and business news coverage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Support show production teams in preparing daily news segments and live programming
  • Assist with writing scripts, headlines and show elements for broadcast
  • Research stories, markets, companies and interview guests to support editorial output
  • Transcribe interviews and identify key soundbites for use across TV and digital platforms
  • Prepare production elements including video clips, graphics requests, and lower-thirds
  • Work with video editors to cut packages and short-form digital content
  • Assist with guest coordination and pre-interview preparation
  • Contribute ideas for segments, features and digital content
  • Support field shoots and special projects where required
  • Clip and package highlights for CNBC’s digital and social platforms

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Willingness to travel to London and Singapore for 2 weeks each during traineeship
  • Recent graduate (or final-year student) in journalism, media, business, economics or a related field
  • Strong interest in business news, financial markets, and global current affairs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, live news environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Basic understanding of TV production workflows and digital media
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
