Job Description:

Your new role

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team in Newton Aycliffe. Working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, you’ll play a key role in the design, development, and integration of electrical systems across a range of applications.

Some key responsibilities

  • Develop functional electrical schemes for systems and subassemblies

  • Produce detailed wiring diagrams, harness layouts and electrical documentation for production

  • Design electrical subassemblies, including cubicles, enclosures and external equipment

  • Define and specify electrical and electro-mechanical components

  • Prepare system and component technical specifications

  • Support integration and testing of electrical systems, including on-system validation

  • Conduct design reviews with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers

  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines, particularly where electrical and mechanical interfaces intersect

About you

You’ll be an Electrical Engineer with strong technical capability and a proactive mindset, comfortable working both independently and within cross-functional teams.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who bring:

  • A solid foundation in electrical engineering principles and design

  • Experience producing schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

  • An understanding or exposure to mechanical systems or electro-mechanical integration

  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, Creo, Catia or electrical design software (e.g. E3 Zuken)

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse technical requirements

  • Effective communication skills and the confidence to engage with a wide range of stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline, with relevant experience)

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience within the rail industry or other highly regulated engineering environments

  • Knowledge of electrical system standards and testing approaches within rail or similar sectors
