Electrical Technician
Job Description
- Perform electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including loop checks, equipment energization, and functional testing.
- Carry out cable pulling, glanding, termination, and verification of wiring in accordance with drawings and standards.
- Conduct insulation resistance testing, earth continuity testing, and equipment start-up support.
- Assist commissioning engineers in energizing systems safely and documenting all required test results.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and rectify faults identified during testing or start-up phases.
- Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Complete and maintain commissioning checklists, test reports, and handover documents accurately.
- Coordinate with instrumentation, mechanical, and control teams to ensure smooth system integration and commissioning.
Requirements
- Minimum NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in electrical installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Preferably experienced in oil & gas, marine, shipyard, or industrial environments.
- Valid SSIC (Shipyard Safety Instruction Course) certification.
- Valid medical clearance, preferably OGUK, or as required by the project/site.
- Any additional yard-specific or client-specific certifications required for electrical work.

- Willing and able to work night shifts as required by project schedules.
- Comfortable working in dynamic, fast-paced project environments.
- Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance, including adherence to permit-to-work systems and electrical safety protocols.
- Good communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with commissioning and engineering teams.
