Responsibilitites
Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installationsPull wire through conduits and holes in walls and floorsInstall brackets and hangers to support electrical equipmentInstall, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panelsSplice, join and connect wire to fixtures and components to form circuitsTest continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of system, following installation, replacement, or repairTroubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty componentsConnect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signalling devices and heating and cooling systemsConduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.Requirements
Completion of secondary school is required.Completion of a four- to five-year apprenticeship program is requiredA minimum of two or three years of experience.Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, schematics, and blueprintsKnowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and toolsNote: Only candidates meeting the specified requirements will be considered.
