ELV Engineer
About the role:
SMITECH is seeking an experienced ELV Engineer to support the planning, coordination, installation, testing and commissioning of Extra-Low Voltage systems for a major M&E construction project in Singapore.
This role will work closely with the project delivery team, consultants, subcontractors, vendors and client representatives to ensure ELV works are executed safely, accurately and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, project timelines and quality standards.
This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and supervise ELV works including structured cabling, CCTV, access control, intercom, public address, security, data network and related low-current systems.
- Review ELV drawings, shop drawings, material submissions, method statements and technical documentation.
- Monitor site installation progress and ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Coordinate with M&E, architectural, civil, ACMV, fire protection and other project teams to resolve interface and site coordination issues.
- Liaise with consultants, client representatives, subcontractors, suppliers and vendors on technical clarifications and site execution matters.
- Support testing, commissioning, inspection, defects rectification and handover documentation for ELV systems.
- Prepare and maintain site records, progress updates, RFIs, inspection requests, testing records and as-built documentation.
- Assist in identifying technical risks, coordination gaps and constructability issues affecting ELV work progress.
- Ensure site works comply with project quality, safety and documentation requirements.
- Support project team in achieving timely delivery, system integration and successful handover of ELV packages.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant ELV engineering experience, preferably in M&E construction, infrastructure, commercial, industrial or public-sector projects.
- Good working knowledge of ELV systems such as CCTV, access control, structured cabling, intercom, PA system, security system, data network or related low-current systems.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, schematics and project documentation.
- Familiar with site coordination, inspection, testing and commissioning processes.
- Strong coordination skills with ability to work closely with consultants, subcontractors, vendors and site teams.
- Good documentation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced project site environment.
- Prior experience in Singapore construction or infrastructure projects will be an advantage.
