Energy Simulation Developer


We are looking for a highly motivated Energy Simulation Developer to join our BuildingsAI team and contribute to the development of next\-generation building energy modeling and simulation applications. The role focuses on extending and integrating open\-source building simulation tools such as EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, Modelica, and UrbanOpt into an AI\-driven platform for advanced building performance analysis and optimization.

The ideal candidate should have strong fundamentals in thermal sciences and building energy systems, along with programming and simulation experience. Candidates with an M.Tech/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Building Science, or related fields are preferred.<\/span>

Key Responsibilities<\/b>
<\/div>
  • Develop custom OpenStudio Measures and workflows for advanced building energy simulation applications<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Contribute to OpenStudio and related open\-source projects by implementing new features and enhancements<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Support the Product Development (PD) team in designing scalable simulation workflows for the BuildingsAI platform<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Work closely with the AI/ML team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in building physics, HVAC systems, and energy modeling<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Mentor application engineers and junior developers on building simulation tools and best practices<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li>
  • Integrate simulation and analysis tools such as:<\/span>
    <\/span><\/li><\/ul>
    1. EnergyPlus<\/span>
      <\/li>
    2. Modelica<\/span>
      <\/li>
    3. UrbanOpt<\/span>
      <\/li>
    4. Other open\-source energy modeling frameworks<\/span>

      • Develop workflows that provide a competitive edge over conventional building simulation software vendors<\/span>

      • Participate in research and development activities involving modeling, simulation, optimization, and controls for buildings and community energy systems.<\/span>

            Programming experience in one or more of the following:

                • Familiarity with AI\-assisted engineering workflows
                  <\/span><\/li>
                • Experience with building controls, optimization, or co\-simulation frameworks

                • Exposure to cloud/HPC workflows for simulation automation is a plus<\/span>
