Engineer - Furnace Process

Major Focus: Design, Develop & Optimize Manufacturing processes & systems to expand company capabilities with a focus on sintering. Efforts are aimed at enhancing internal and external customer experience, quality and speed, while ensuring safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe function and operation of various types of sintering furnaces
  • Support production to meet organizational metrics
  • Create production work documentation for new and existing products and processes
    • Work instructions, standard works, etc.
    • Production routes and bills of materials
    • Focus on Safety, quality, & up-time
  • Liaison for all areas of organization (Sales, Quality, R&D, etc.) with respect to products and production capabilities
  • Capital equipment
    • Proper machine identification and validation plans
    • Justification process and documentation
    • Implementation process and documentation
  • Maintain & facilitate improvement of quality procedure documentation including RMA/CAR/MRR

Major Challenges:

  • Continuous improvement in parallel within production resources and schedule
  • Prioritization of organizational needs in combination with individual goals.
  • Ability to adapt to a change in priorities based on forecast and operational needs.

Expected Performance Outcomes:

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement corresponding solutions
  • Specific goals will be centered around enabling safe production at 100% quality while reducing the average cost per piece by 5% yearly.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or similar with Operations Understanding
  • 5 years Manufacturing / Process Engineering experience with a focus on technical problem solving and transfer of development projects to production levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office, working knowledge of ERP systems
  • Hands on working knowledge of vacuum, high-temp, or special atmosphere sintering and processing

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must possess a technical problem-solving mindset that enjoys resolving significant engineering challenges
    • 8D, FMEA, Cause and Effect, 5 Why’s
  • Experience using Stage Gate process for development through production scaling
  • Lean and Six Sigma skills necessary to efficiently and methodically resolve technical challenges
  • NFPA 86

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $99,800.00 - $149,600.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
