Position Summary: The Summer Engineering Intern will support manufacturing and engineering teams through the creation and maintenance of technical documentation, CAD models, production work instructions, and process-improvement activities. This role provides hands-on exposure to engineering, manufacturing, and operational excellence within an aerospace and defense manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update 2D and 3D mechanical models, drawings, fixtures, and assembly documentation using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Develop, revise, and maintain production work instructions, assembly procedures, and visual manufacturing aids to support shop floor operations.
- Conduct time studies and observe manufacturing processes to assist with workflow analysis, process documentation, and productivity improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Rising high school senior with an interest in engineering, manufacturing, or technology.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
Duration
- Temporary summer internship (approximately one month) located at the Frederick, MD facility.
