Environmental Control Officer

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists Project Management in EHS implementation in the project sites as assigned;
  • Acts as an advisor on Environmental issues to Project Team and all site personnel;
  • Ensures that the Company’s EHS core values are aligned and adhered to at all times;
  • Ensures compliance to Company’s Environmental related policies, procedures and all applicable legislative requirements;
  • Plans and implements project Environmental Management System and programmes to continually improve EHS performance;
  • Supports the collection of sustainability statistics for reporting in to ESG.
  • Manages and monitors EHS performance and programmes and conducts analysis on environmental performance and trends;
  • Collates analysis results, makes recommendations and generates reports for management;
  • Conducts training needs analysis and delivers project EHS training;
  • Identifies Environmental risks, reviews and advise in the risk-impact assessments and manages compliance to risk-impact management;
  • Investigates all environmental incidents, advice corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence, and assists in reports preparation;
  • Oversees post incident clean up and corrective action closure.
  • Reports and liaises with management, relevant authorities on incident occurrences;
  • Oversees and manages waste generated from constructions and the disposal.
  • Supports all Project related EHS initiatives.
  • Prepares management system documentation for ConSASS audits;
  • Supports the implementation of the relevant sections under the ESG umbrella.

Job Requirements:

  • Diploma in Engineering discipline (ideal)
  • Registered Environmental Control Officer (NEA)
  • Earth Controls Measure Officer
  • 6 years EHS experience
  • EHS experience in engineering or construction management projects
  • Prior experience in managing sub-contractors’ EHS personnel
  • Prior experience in managing mature Environmental and H&S management systems, project Safety Management and Environmental Management Plans, as well as other related Plans
  • Highly proficient in communication
  • Cross culturally aware and adaptable
  • Assertive and confident
  • Able to impact and influence
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Environmental Control Officer (NEA) training
  • Knowledge of EHS legal requirements and best practices
  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and
  • Powerpoint applications
