Equipment Checkout Services Coordinator

Join the BYU Library team in supporting student success through technology and productivity services. The Equipment Checkout Services Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operation, maintenance, inventory, and promotion of the library’s productivity equipment collection, including calculators, chargers, headphones, webcams, iPads, and other resources that help students succeed in their academic work. This position works collaboratively with library stakeholders to ensure equipment is available, functional, and responsive to evolving student needs while providing excellent customer service and stewardship of university resources.

Note: This is a part-time position, 28 hours per week.

What you'll do in this position:

Service Management

  • Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with other relevant library stakeholders such as help desk supervisors and department services managers to ensure smooth operation of services across locations and teams throughout the library. Organize semesterly meetings with reference specialists to provide coordination and updates.
  • Purchasing: Responsible for purchasing equipment for replacement and approved added/new equipment items.
  • Maintenance: Review and record all damaged or non-functioning equipment. Replace or withdraw items in keeping with standard policy and procedure for damaged/broken library items.
  • Inventory: Maintain lists of productivity related equipment available throughout the library and perform regular audits to ensure assets are readily available for patron use.
  • Promotion: ensure information about equipment checkout services is readily available and accurate both in the library and online. Propose and coordinate initiatives designed to help raise awareness of equipment checkout services in the library.
  • Issue resolution: Work with Resolutions to facilitate the replacement of lost, missing, or damaged items.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to processes in area supervised.
  • Statistics: Track and report key performance and service statistics.
  • User Experience Improvement: Coordinate with stakeholders and management as new equipment types are vetted for addition into the library collections. Work collaboratively with parallel department teams to ensure services are meeting user expectations.
  • Professional Development: Participate in department, library, and university trainings. With supervisor, determine other position-related professional development activities and the scope of involvement.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some office, customer service, or administrative experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, students, and library patrons.
  • Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to learn, apply, and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and use new technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Aptitude for identifying and implementing technology solutions that support academic productivity.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent higher education experience.
  • Experience working in an academic, library, or higher education environment.
  • Experience managing inventories, equipment, or technology resources.
  • Familiarity with educational technology, productivity tools, and emerging trends in academic support services.
  • Experience tracking data, maintaining records, and preparing reports.

Pay Grade: 48

Typical Starting Pay: $20.50 - $26.50

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
