Estate Planning Strategist

This role sits at the intersection of estate law and wealth management, supporting high-net-worth clients with sophisticated planning needs.
You will work closely with financial advisors and wealth planning teams to design, review, and implement estate planning strategies tailored to evolving family and regulatory circumstances.
The position requires both legal expertise and the ability to translate complex estate, trust, and tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance for advisors and clients.
You will serve as a key internal resource across a national wealth management organization, helping ensure estate plans remain current, compliant, and strategically aligned.
A significant part of your impact will come from reviewing existing documents, identifying necessary updates, and advising on changes driven by law or client life events.
You will also contribute to thought leadership, client education, and business development initiatives when needed.
This is a highly collaborative role within a fast-paced advisory environment focused on delivering holistic, integrated wealth solutions.
Accountabilities:
- Independently partner with wealth advisors and financial planning teams to review, fund, and maintain client estate plans within a coordinated wealth management framework.
- Analyze and summarize estate planning documents, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for updates based on legal changes and client circumstances.
- Provide clear, practical guidance on estate, trust, and tax matters to internal teams and clients with varying levels of financial sophistication.
- Serve as a national subject matter expert in estate planning, supporting advisors across multiple regions and complex client scenarios.
- Stay current on evolving estate, trust, and tax legislation and translate changes into actionable planning recommendations.
- Support business development initiatives through presentations, client-facing discussions, and thought leadership contributions when required.
- Oversee and mentor assigned service support staff, including task delegation, training, workflow coordination, and performance guidance.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
- 2–6 years of experience in estate planning law, preferably within a wealth management, law firm, or financial advisory environment.
- Strong ability to interpret complex legal, tax, and trust structures and communicate them clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
- Experience working with high-net-worth clients and multi-generational wealth planning strategies is highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-centric and advisory mindset.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases or planning structures simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with financial advisors, planners, and cross-functional wealth management teams.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% when needed for client or internal meetings.
- Base salary range of $90,000 – $110,000 USD, plus eligibility for incentive compensation programs.
